Farewell Katya

When a young girl named Katya in Batumi (Georgia) leaves the orphanage where is grew up she meets a mysterious woman and learns the fact that she is the daughter of a sailor named Yunus who lives in Trabzon (Turkey). She decides to travel to Trabzon and find her father. Yunus, who had been unaware of the fact that he had a daughter abroad and lives in a conservative neighborhood, does not accept her when he meets Katya, leaving her all alone in this accustomed environment, where people consider Russians prostitutes. Adapted from a true story, the film depicts community prejudices, conscience, and a daughter’s quest to find her father.
